Hi-Yew offers micro precision welding capability for medical devices down to 50 microns capability. The micro welding is delivered through optically and ensures the beam quality for welds. Medical Welding consists of welding surgical instruments, passive and active implants, resection gauges and endoscopic components, not exhaustive.

From welding of catheters, we assist in the development of smaller catheters and instruments with the advancement of intervetional radiology in the treatment of diseases outside the coronary arteries.

This is evident in the field of interventional neuroradiology where microcatheters require outer diameters as low as 0.010i to enable navigation of challenging neurovascular anatomies.

The manufacture of microcatheters require advanced welding technologies to be employed as spot sizes less than 0.1mm and average powers of less than 5W are often required. Hi-Yew now offers advanced micro-welding capabilities of 50-micron spot size.

We weld stainless steel tubes of outer diameter 0.012"hermatically by seam welding or spot weld(120 deg per spot of 3 spots). We are also able to perform wire joining of outer diameter range 0.002" to 0.005" and bond welding of thin tube thickness or sheets from 0.1mm to 0.8mm.

The work pieces can be free for distortion, accurate, high strength and welded in a sterile environment. Finishing welded surfaces can be smoothened with the same laser in the process to ensure sterile washing and antiseptically cleaning of surgical instruments after welding.
